Coaching Services

Coaches help people take their gifts, talents and skills to the next level. Our coaches work with teachers to implement strategies learned in LCSS workshops and to apply them to their classroom. We work with co-teaching teams to develop flourishing partnerships. We coach all teachers to plan lessons, plan and problem solve about instructional strategies and students, and identify the skills they want to develop. Coaching is an on-going process that takes place over the course of a school year or years.

Classroom Coaching

Using classroom visitations and follow-up meetings, we collaborate and build relationships with teachers and paraprofessionals to:

  • develop new strategies and competencies and expand skills, attitudes and knowledge in the areas of:
    • Co-Teaching Partnership
    • Use of Co-Teaching Models
    • Differentiated Instruction
    • Individualizations/Accommodations and Modifications
    • Explicit Instruction
    • Inclusive Education
  • engage in a reflective process that allows them to examine and refine classroom practice
  • identify their strengths and needs
  • utilize staff, planning time and classroom time effectively
  • plan lessons utilizing strategies learned in workshops
  • create action plans and attain goals

Study Group Facilitation

After a workshop or previous training, we work with small groups of teaching teams to investigate one of the above topics deeply.  Our consultants meet with a group for an intensive, short period in order to facilitate the study sessions, and observe the planned lessons with other group members.  Study groups provide teachers the opportunities to:

  • witness, debrief and analyze planned lessons
  • engage in a reflective process that allows them to examine and refine classroom practice
  • plan together with colleagues
  • develop new strategies and competencies and expand skills, attitudes and knowledge

Individual Student Study and Support

This case study format supports teachers who are struggling with a particular student with or without disabilities.  Teachers will:

  • learn concrete strategies to address academic, social, and/or behavioral issues
  • reflect and evaluate their current practice with the student
  • increase their repertoire and generalize newly learned skills
  • develop the skills necessary for this evaluative and problem-solving process
