Five Compelling Reasons You Don’t Want to Miss the Co-Teacher’s Retreat

Looking to recharge your teaching mojo and strengthen your co-teaching partnership? The Co-Teacher’s Retreat, hosted by Lakretz Creative Support Services, offers a refreshing blend of professional development and relaxation. Set against the serene backdrop of the Jones Beach Energy and Nature Center in Wantagh, NY, this retreat is designed to inspire and rejuvenate co-teachers. Here are 5 compelling reasons you’ll want to be there:

  1. Take your co-teaching partnership to the next level

We all know that successful co-teaching is only possible with strong collaboration and mutual understanding.  This event will provide co-teachers with an opportunity, away from the pressure and daily grind of the classroom, to reflect on their partnership, develop new tools and have a great time together. You’ll engage in fun, structured activities and discussions to align even further and go into 2025-26 with a new sense of connection and understanding.

  1. Learn with and from other educators

Throughout the two days, you’ll receive both direct and indirect opportunities to learn and/or deepen skills for successful inclusion and co-teaching. The retreat is co-taught by our experienced team members to immerse teachers in the small group co-teaching models and differentiated instruction.    As we explore the co-teaching models, instruction will be geared to your level of familiarity with them.  Additionally, you’ll leave the retreat with strategies to support all learners – general ed students, neurodivergent students, and students whose skills are significantly different than grade level skills. You’ll also have opportunities to choose what you want to learn! (NY teachers, you can receive CTLE credit!)

  1. Receive much-needed planning time

Both days will provide extended opportunities to plan lessons and/or units.  You’ll have opportunities to work in your partnership as well as the option for you and your co-teacher to plan with educators from other schools. These time periods will allow you to integrate any of the strategies you learn into your practice for 2025-26.  LCSS coaches will be available to support you at your level. Come with planning materials!

  1. Become part of a new professional community of educators

Co-teachers rarely get enough time to brainstorm with colleagues or share strategies.  This retreat will be a co-teaching think tank, with teachers from a range of districts. You’ll have the opportunity to connect with like-minded professionals, learn from each other, swap ideas, and connect. Additionally, we’ll engage in community-building activities that you can bring back to your classroom.

  1. Relax, Rest and Rejuvenate

Teachers give so much—navigating new initiatives, supporting students through challenges, and showing up every day with heart and dedication. The Co-Teacher’s Retreat is your chance to pause, breathe, and refill your cup.

Set in a beautiful, peaceful location, this retreat invites you to learn and recharge in whatever way restores you. Lounge on the porch and soak in the stunning views during lunch. Treat yourself to an optional chair massage. If painting helps you unwind, we’ve got brushes and canvases ready. Prefer to move? Unroll a yoga mat or take a calming walk down to the ocean.

You’ll leave refreshed and inspired with new ways to bring mindfulness and rejuvenation into your classroom and co-teaching practice.

And…there are BONUSES!!!

  • You’ll receive a free copy of our Community Builders packet, filled with 12 ready-to-use activities for strengthening your classroom community.
  • You’ll be invited to join The Co-Teacher’s Corner, an online community for co-teachers to share and support one another.
